Magma Congratulates Winners of MUSIC Silicon Valley 'Best Paper' Awards -- Low Power, Design for Manufacturability, Automation and Physical Verification Among Popular Topics

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 10, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Magma(r) Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced the "Best Paper" winners for MUSIC (Magma Users Summit on Integrated Circuits) Silicon Valley, held Feb. 27-28.

The top paper award went to Madhusudan Rao of Texas Instruments for his paper titled "Advanced Low-Power and Robust Clock Tree Synthesis Solutions." The second place award went to Bernd Lemitre of Infineon for his paper titled "Litho Hot Spot Detection and Repair Flow for 65-nm P&R Designs." Third place went to Attila Kovacs of IDT for "Designing with EASE: From Early Estimation to Final Sign-off."

The winning papers were selected by the more than 220 attendees and the MUSIC Technical Coordination Program Committee (TCPC) from a field of 24 user papers presented from top-tier companies, including ARM, Broadcom, IDT, Infineon, Intel, Texas Instruments, Toshiba and Qualcomm.

"The quality of the papers and presentations by Magma users showed just how widespread and varied utilization of Magma software is for all stages of leading-edge design," said Charlie Matar, chairman of MUSIC Silicon Valley 2008 and vice president of engineering at Qualcomm. "The presenters covered topics spanning the entire range of the design flow using Magma tools. I commend the presenters and the technical program committee for reinforcing MUSIC Silicon Valley's reputation as a valuable learning resource for Magma users."

"MUSIC Silicon Valley again attracted a strong cross section of Magma users from the leading chip design and manufacturing companies," said Yatin Trivedi, Magma's director of industry partnership programs. "The quality of papers presented was outstanding, enabling users to gain an understanding of various critical issues affecting chip development today, from full-chip mixed-signal design, analysis and verification; designing for 45-nm processes and power optimization; to automatic test pattern generation; advanced physical verification and package-aware I/O planning."
