Scanvaegt International in Denmark and Marel ehf. in Iceland, two of Marel Food Systems' business units, are merging their operations under the Marel name. The combined operations will be under the management of Sigsteinn Grétarsson, current managing director of Marel. As part of these changes, Erik Steffensen, managing director of Scanvaegt International, will be stepping down from his post as of 13 March 2008. “I would like to thank Erik for a job well done on behalf of the company,” said Hörður Arnarson, CEO of Marel Food Systems. “Over the past two years, the company has grown tremendously, and extensive integration work in the company's global sales and service network in 24 countries has progressed well.
