University of Florida Study Reports That World Energy Solutions' Pure Air Technology Successfully Removes 99 Percent of Two Volatile Chemicals

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 4, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- World Energy Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB:WEGY), a company focused on energy conservation technologies and environmental sustainability, announced today the receipt of testing results on the Company's 'Pure Air' technology from the University of Florida's Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences. Performance testing reaffirmed that the technology has the ability to remove 99% of harmful chemicals when run through the Pure Air prototype.

The Pure Air prototype was subjected to 2 ppmv of methanol, and hydrogen sulfide for approximately 24-hours and was operated four separate times. In each case, greater than 99% of the chemicals were removed. Methanol was chosen by the University team as a representative volatile organic compound because alcohols are predominant in both indoor and traditional air pollution environments. The testing was conducted by Dr. David Mazyck, Associate Professor at the University of Florida, in collaboration with the University's Environmental Systems Commercial Space Technology Center (ES-CSTC) at Gainesville, FL, and its Director, Mr. William Sheehan.

The 'Pure Air' technology is a derivative of a NASA-sponsored research project. According to World Energy Solutions, Inc., CEO, Ben Croxton, "This technology has the potential to become a market leader. It is an efficient and economical unit which has been proven to remove 99% of biological and chemical contaminants in the air, as well as filtering dust and smoke particles. The treated air is virtually 100% sterile."

The Research Agreement is being sponsored by the University's Environmental Systems Commercial Space Technology Center (ES-CSTC) at Gainesville, FL, under the initiative of its Director, Mr. William Sheehan. Mr. Sheehan and his team have agreed to assist the company in identifying and pursuing the commercialization of the 'Pure Air' technology. ES-CSTC member, Ms. Kristen Riley, formerly of NASA, will be in charge of identifying industrial and commercial applications for the technology and leading its marketing efforts. The 'Pure Air' technology is a derivative of NASA-sponsored research at the University. The NASA Johnson Space Center funded the effort through its Advanced Life Support program which focuses on the need to revitalize air for long-duration space flights.

"There are a variety of indoor air purification technologies commercially available, but none of them adequately address the removal of disease causing bacteria and potentially harmful organic compounds. Our commitment to energy savings technologies coupled with our innovative Pure Air Technology offers an exciting solution that should substantially improve upon the existing market options," continued Mr. Coxton.
