DETROIT, April 4, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Marygrove College will host the first Spring Dramafest, an evening of staged readings of original theatrical works, on Thursday, April 24, 2008, in the Theatre on Marygrove's campus, 8425 West McNichols Road, Detroit. The 7:30 p.m. performance is free and open to the public.

Dr. Donald Levin, Chairman, Department of English and Modern Languages, said, "The Dramafest will present original one-act plays and scenes from longer plays written and performed by Marygrove faculty, alumni, staff, and students. During the evening, works will be performed by Marygrove College graduate student Thomas Galasso (scenes from the full-length play, When the Swan Sings on Hastings), Dr. Levin (a one-act play, Father Kelleher's Confession), Marygrove Theatre manager Leslie Love (a one-act play, Terms of Engagement), faculty member Michael Martin (scenes from the full-length play, A True and Faithful Relation), and alumna Sharon Wallace (scenes from the full-length play, 1967: A Life of Its Own).

The settings of the plays range from Detroit's Hastings Street to Elizabethan England. These works will include full casts in Marygrove's intimate, 392-seat facility located in the west wing of the Liberal Arts building on Marygrove's campus.
