Three New Directors Appointed to SanomaWSOY Corporate Centre

SanomaWSOY has appointed three new directors to its Corporate Centre.
Kim Ignatius has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and
member of SanomaWSOY's Executive Management Group. Sven Heistermann
has been appointed as Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Ben Tiesnitsch
as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) of SanomaWSOY. The
appointments are in line with the renewal of SanomaWSOY's management
model announced in April 2007. All three directors will report
directly to SanomaWSOY's President and CEO Hannu Syrjänen."I'm very happy that these experienced and highly professional
directors are joining the SanomaWSOY Group. All three have strong
international background and I'm convinced that their expertise will
give us great additional value in internationalising the Group
further in years to come," SanomaWSOY's President and CEO Hannu
Syrjänen states. "It is important that the composition of the Group
management better reflects our international exposure," Syrjänen
continues.

Kim Ignatius as CFO of the SanomaWSOY Group
Kim Ignatius B.Sc. (Econ.), 51, has been appointed as Chief Financial
Officer (CFO) of SanomaWSOY and member of SanomaWSOY's Executive
Management Group. In his new position, Ignatius will be responsible
for the Group's Finance and Administration as well as Investor
Relations and ICT.

The Finnish Kim Ignatius has been working for the Nordic and Baltic
telecommunications operator TeliaSonera since 2000, and currently
holds the position of Executive Vice President and CFO. Previously,
he was CFO and member of the Executive Board of Tamro Corporation.
Ignatius will begin working at SanomaWSOY on the date specified later
on."The past eight years with TeliaSonera have been exciting and
rewarding. Now it's time to find new challenges. I see my new
position as an interesting opportunity to build on my experience in
telecommunications, but also as a chance for further personal
development in the broader converging media markets. SanomaWSOY is a
group with long and respected history. In recent years the Group has
internationalised significantly and it will be great to be part of
its future development," Ignatius says.

The present Senior Vice President, Group Finance and Administration,
Matti Salmi will retire according to his own wish during the summer.

Sven Heistermann appointed Chief Strategy Officer
Sven Heistermann, 35, has been appointed as Chief Strategy Officer
(CSO) of SanomaWSOY. Heistermann has been working at Booz Allen
Hamilton, a leading management consulting firm, since 1998 - leading
projects related to strategy development for clients in
communications, multimedia, internet and high-tech
industries. Heistermann comes from Germany and holds an M.Sc. (Tech.)
degree in industrial engineering and management. He will start in his
new position on 4 August 2008."I'm very excited about joining SanomaWSOY and working closely with
the experienced management team in the Group as well as in the
divisions. It's a unique opportunity to play a part in developing
this strong media company further. The increasing digitalisation of
media as well as the further internationalisation of the company will
be two extremely interesting aspects of my work," Sven Heistermann
says.

Ben Tiesnitsch to lead the Group's Human Resources
The Dutchman Ben Tiesnitsch, 55, has been appointed as Chief Human
Resources Officer (CHRO) of SanomaWSOY. Tiesnitsch has been working
as Senior Vice President, Human Resources Development in the
SanomaWSOY since 2004 and as Director, Human Resources in Sanoma
Magazines in the Netherlands since 2002. Previously he held various
HR positions in the Dutch media company VNU. Tiesnitsch holds a
degree in Human Resources Management. Tiesnitsch will start in his
new position on the date specified later on."I'm really happy to get this assignment. The level of
professionalism and motivation our employees have is impressive. We
need to keep that spirit also in the growing internationalisation of
the Group. We will invest heavily in internal mobility as well as
leadership and talent development programmes in order to be ready for
the next steps," Tiesnitsch says.
