About the Author

Dr. Kenneth L. Ludeke is widely acclaimed as one of the founders of the chemical and physical stabilization process associated with mining throughout the world. He currently is a professor of science whose focus is to make science approachable and applicable to underrepresented students who previously felt they could not master the fundamental concepts. Many of his students today have successfully embarked upon science careers. At this juncture, he endeavors to inspire young audiences to explore the wonderful world of science through his books.

Dr. Amalia H. Ludeke is a professor whose professional experiences have afforded her with rich opportunities to serve and work in varied and diverse multicultural settings and capacities. These varied experiences have served to shape her vision of addressing issues of educational equity and accessibility. Through this collaborative and creative endeavor of writing a book designed to pique the interest of young audiences, it is her hope to make this book approachable to children who may not have the likelihood of making early connections with science.
