EnviTec Biogas AG / Miscellaneous 18.04.2008 Release of a Corporate News, transmitted by DGAP - a company of EquityStory AG. In the east German town of Friedland, a 2.1 MW biogas plant was connected to the grid. The four 526 kW modules were built in the course of only twelve months and have a utilisation rate of over 95 percent today. EnviTec Biogas holds a share of 87.5 percent in the operating company. EnviTec expects to generate annual sales of approx. EUR three million from the sale of the energy produced by the plant as well as a positive effect on the EBIT margin. The investment totalled EUR 7.4 million. The new biogas plant is an ideal example of combined heat and power. The bio-electricity produced by the plant is fed into the public grid by E.on. In addition, a nearby district heat operator takes off 70 to 80 percent of the heat produced in the electricity generation process and feeds it into the regional grid. As a result, the heating costs of the population of Friedland can be reduced. 'Biogas is the future of energy. We not only produce environmentally friendly power but can also supply the people of Friedland with low-cost district heat. What better way to show that biogas has a future in Germany,' says Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas. Biogas also has advantages over biofuels.' Our plants use the complete crop and therefore produce up to three times as much energy per hectare, which means that they need much less land for cultivation than other forms of energies using renewable resources.' Due to the standardised modular construction of the EnviTec plants, the deadline for construction and start-up was met. The first two modules were ready in mid-2007, the other two were working at full load in Q1 2008. The federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a strategic location, as the agricultural businesses in the surroundings supply all feedstock materials for the biogas plant such as corn, grass and liquid manure through short supply lines. By operating its own biogas plants, EnviTec Biogas generates regular cash flows and steady margins.' This is why this business segment is of strategic importance for our company and will be expanded further,' says Olaf von Lehmden. EnviTec Biogas AG covers the entire value chain for the production of biogas - including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants as well as their commissioning. The company provides the biological and technical service and also offers the full plant and operating management. In addition, EnviTec also operates its own biogas plants. In Penkun, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, EnviTec is currently constructing what it believes to be the world's largest biogas park with an electrical connected load of 20 megawatts. Today, EnviTec is represented in more than 12 countries throughout Europe and as well in China and India. In 2007 EnviTec generated revenues of EUR 132 million and EBIT of EUR 18 million. The EnviTec Group has about 280 employees. Since July 2007 EnviTec is listed on the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
