Northrop Grumman Highlights Integrated Public Safety and Security Solutions At GovSec 2008

WASHINGTON, April 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight its broad range of homeland security technologies and solutions for public safety and first responders this week at the 2008 Government Security Conference and Exposition (GovSec), April 23-24, at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center.

"At Northrop Grumman, our goal is to support our nation's public safety first responders and law enforcement with innovative, homeland security solutions that ensure the fastest and most effective response to our nation's security threats," said Jerry Buckwalter, Northrop Grumman's vice president of homeland security. "Our systems integration expertise allows us to provide fully integrated solutions, allowing our nation's public safety agencies and emergency response personnel to work with complete information."

Mark Adams, chief architect of networks and communications for Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector, will participate on the panel "Preparing For America's New Broadband Public Safety Network" at a special Wireless Communications Association at GovSec session on Thursday, April 24 at 3:15 p.m. in room 140A.

At booth 1645 in the conference exhibit hall, Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its ability to seamlessly integrate a variety of homeland security solutions into a common situational awareness display via its new Critical Incident Response System (CIRS). CIRS combines the best of hardware and software allowing commanders to quickly and intuitively plan, engage and manage emergency situations and complex events. The system's TouchTable(tm) enables small group collaboration and discovery at the local site, and remote information sharing over IP to any other TouchTable(tm) or IP enabled device. This ensures that all responders are working against the same information. Northrop Grumman's homeland security solutions displayed at the exhibit and integrated through CIRS are:

 * Information Sharing Environment: Northrop Grumman is enabling
operations personnel to share technology, data and expertise
against a common objective for successful inter-agency,
shared-mission execution. By leveraging technological advances
in service-oriented architectures and enterprise service buses,
Northrop Grumman uses cutting-edge applications and enables them
to interoperate with one another, as well as against data sets
across a federated group of agencies.

 * Public Safety Wireless Applications: Northrop Grumman provides
the technology to support safe, effective and efficient public
safety communications and operations. Harnessing the enabling
capabilities of wireless technology, the company helps public
safety personnel receive the right information at the right
time and at the right place. Northrop Grumman is making
wireless applications a force multiplier by providing operations
centers and the first responder a composite picture of incidents
and situations to improve response time and decision making.

 * Critical Infrastructure/Key Resources Protection: Northrop
Grumman offers a command-and-control security system for
protecting critical infrastructure and key resources. The system
includes fully integrated perimeter protection, gate access,
closed circuit television control and a video archiving system
   for one or multiple sites.

preparedness analysis and training tools provide the user with a
simulation and visualization environment to study and train for
alternative responses to natural and non-natural national
   incidents.

 * ANDROS Hazardous-Duty Robots: Remotec Hazardous-Duty Robots are
used worldwide by military organizations, law enforcement
agencies, nuclear facilities and research laboratories. These
unmanned ground vehicles are relied upon for safe, successful
outcomes to challenging missions and hazardous-duty operations.

 * Secure Federated Identity Management: Northrop Grumman has
leveraged its experience with systems integration and
security-related solutions for the federal, state, local, and
commercial markets to develop and deploy a comprehensive secure
federated identity management solution. The company's handheld
authentication application is used to verify individuals for
   logical and physical access.

 * Global Hawk is a high altitude, long endurance, fully autonomous,
unmanned aerial reconnaissance system designed to provide high
resolution, near-real-time imagery of large graphic areas. Its
superior performance significantly enhances the U.S. military's
ability to prevail in all types of operations: from sensitive
peacekeeping missions to full-scale combat. Global Hawk's
advanced technology sensors have a range that extends more than
halfway around the world and an ability to remain on-station for
long periods of time, providing the warfighter with essential
intelligence needed to achieve information dominance throughout
the battle space. Imagery from Global Hawk and similar systems
can be integrated into the CIRS application.
