NCGA Pleased With Farm Bill Breakthrough

ST. LOUIS, April 25, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) applauds congressional negotiators in finally achieving a funding agreement today on the farm bill package.

"NCGA realizes this has been a difficult process for members of Congress and we thank them for their hard work," said NCGA President Ron Litterer. "As a producer, I understand that recent market conditions highlight the need for a viable revenue option -- one that addresses the increasing levels of risk farmers are facing today and in the future. We strongly believe that this final package needs to include such an option."

NCGA will be reviewing the details of the package over the weekend and working with members of Congress next week on the final package.

The National Corn Growers Association's mission is to create and increase opportunities for corn growers. NCGA represents more than 33,000 members and 48 affiliated state organizations and hundreds of thousands of growers who contribute to state checkoff programs.
