Lysaker, 7 May 2008
Nord Pool has received the following information from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE):

Significant increase in Norwegian reservoir levels
The inflow to the Norwegian reservoirs in week 18 was double of what is normal. This raised Norwegian reservoir levels by 4.7 percentage points, reaching 40.7 percent at the end of the week. Reservoir levels were 6.5 percent above the median level.

Due to warmer weather, electricity consumption decreased from week 17 to week 18. Hydro power production decreased, but less so than consumption. Spot prices decreased while there was an increase in export. From week 17 to week 18 the average wholesale price fell the most in Mid-Norway. The prices fell by 13 øre/kWh, ending at 24 øre/kWh. Prices in Southern and Northern Norway were 13 and 30 øre/kWh. This is 9 and 8 øre lower than the previous week.
