Edinburgh, 12th May 2008 – Dialog Semiconductor PLC (FWB:DLG), a leading
supplier of mixed signal power management products for the portable
consumer market, is establishing a new design centre in Edinburgh City
Centre.

The company has been awarded a £1.3 million research and development grant
from Scottish Enterprise towards a £5.5 million project to develop cutting
edge components at the new centre that will be at the forefront of global
developments in audio technology.

The new office overlooking St Andrews Square will become one of the
company’s global centres of excellence and is expected to employ at least
20 Design Engineers by the end of this year.

The centre will focus on the development of enabling technology for
enhanced signal processing targeted to complement Dialog’s energy
management integrated circuits. The first such products are expected to be
introduced within the next 12-18 months.

Scottish Government Enterprise Minister Jim Mather said: 'This project has
the potential to have a direct and positive impact on Scotland’s
electronics sector. Improving the level of R&D activity in Scotland can
help boost productivity and increase sustainable economic growth. I wish
all involved with this project every success.'

Dialog Semiconductor CEO Dr Jalal Bagherli added 'We are pleased to have
selected Edinburgh for our new design facility, supported by the Scottish
Enterprise R&D Plus grant. This will allow Dialog to enhance its technical
knowledge base with access to further world class signal processing talent.
We plan to grow our leading edge product portfolio by developing
cooperative relationships with the many excellent local Universities and
research facilities in Scotland'

Lena Wilson, Chief Operating Officer for Scottish Enterprise said: 'This
important project underlines the world class industry design expertise that
Scotland has in digital media and enabling technologies but also highlights
the growing importance of encouraging more companies to invest in research
and development.

'By supporting this project, the company will be able to expand its
operations in Scotland, generating new high value employment opportunities
while at the same time reinforcing the importance of the company’s Scottish
facilities for its global operation'
