Alternative Construction Technologies Selected to Participate in 'The Faces of Climate Change' Media Campaign by Environmental Defense Fund and Florida Wildlife Federation

MELBOURNE, Fla., May 15, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ACCY) announced today that it has been selected to participate in "The Faces of Climate Change" Media Campaign. The campaign is the brainchild of Jerry Karnas, President of the Florida Chapter of the Environmental Defense Fund, and Jay Liles, the Policy Consultant for The Florida Wildlife Federation. Karnas is also a member of Florida Governor Crist's Climate Action Team. Alternative Construction Technologies was selected to participate by the Environmental Defense Fund for its contributions to value-added construction methods, social and environmental consciousness and the ability of its state-of-the-art ACTech(r) structural insulated building system to address so many of the challenges facing Florida residents, Florida government, business leaders and Planet Earth as a whole. Filming was concluded on March 21, 2008. The launch of the state-wide campaign has now commenced.

Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and The Florida Wildlife Federation (FWF) collaborated to produce a multi-media campaign designed to highlight the impacts caused by climate change and the myriad of solutions being offered by Florida entrepreneurs and industry to address both climate and energy alternatives. The campaign will result in a statewide television advertising blitz and a full length DVD featuring what we have come to call, "The Faces of Climate Change."

The partnering entities, EDF and FWF, have been working together on climate change policy at the state and federal level over the past year. This partnership is widely credited with moving policy on global warming solutions and energy for Florida in a positive direction.

"We believe there is consensus that Florida is a pivotal state in the national debate over means to combat global warming," stated Jerry Karnas. "Florida is arguably the state that will be most affected by climate change as manifested in sea level rise, frequent and severe storms and other perils that place people, wildlife and habitat at risk. Additionally, Florida's population and our position as a swing state in national elections make this a critical battleground for climate change policy," he added.

The goal of the joint EDF/FWF "Faces of Climate Change" Campaign is to build an informed and engaged constituency who support leadership addressing the climate change crisis at the federal level. Participants will be asked to briefly appear on tape explaining the product/concept they are bringing to market that will address climate change, clean and renewable energy, and/or carbon reduction. Ron Sachs Communications, an award-winning public relations and media firm, will produce and direct the campaign videos.

"We were quite pleased to be showcased by Environmental Defense as entrepreneurs and as a company with significant contributions to make relative to the challenges our state and our planet face. Our interview focused on a socially responsible, affordable hurricane-rebuild home we were just starting in Arcadia, Florida under contract with the DeSoto County Disaster Recovery program. The film footage focused on the speed and ease of use of the ACTech(r) Panel system, the energy efficiency and disaster resistant strength, the recycled content and positive impacts on our environment and atmosphere; and the potential contributions to the Florida economy," stated A.J. Francel the COO for Alternative Construction Technologies. The complete erection of the ACTech(r) Panel structural wall and roof envelope, the installation of all windows and doors and the framing of inside walls was complete at the end of Day Two on the affordable residential home, demonstrating the speed and ease of use.

Alternative Construction Technologies, Inc. (ACT) possesses a unique and patented construction technology called the ACTech(r) Panel System that is used in the design and erection of state-of-the-art buildings in commercial, residential, industrial and modular building applications, as well as patented safe rooms. Generically known as structural insulated panels (SIPs), ACT's revolutionary and efficient construction solution utilizes an inherently better galvanized steel "skin" SIP system to complete energy efficient, stronger, safer, faster, and more economical structures than conventional wood and brick-based building products. The patented ACTech(r) Panel is environmentally-friendly and easier to construct with -- not only saving labor cost and cutting construction time, but also reducing recurring monthly heating and cooling energy bills consistently by 30-50% and often as much as 70%. Most importantly, the ACTech(r) Panel possesses disaster resistant strength and has tested stronger than conventional concrete block or wood frame construction. In hurricane projectile tests, the ACTech(r) Panel continues to meet the most stringent wind, projectile and uplift codes in the nation levied by the 2006 Florida Building Code. The ACTech(r) Panel System offers builders and consumers many competitive and comparative advantages of use due to its wide range of attributes. As this new construction technology gains awareness, or hurricane and tornado-prone states establish new building codes and rebuild from recent weather disasters, ACT believes its products will be in greater demand. ACT has recently added complementary services including design, consulting, and construction through its various general contracting subsidiaries.
