A Taste of Philadelphia Moves to the Great Plaza At Penn's Landing

A Chance to Tickle Your Taste Buds, as Part of the Sunoco Welcome America! Festival

PHILADELPHIA, May 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Savor the flavor of the menus of some of Philadelphia's finest restaurants as the city's best chefs convene at A Taste of Philadelphia to prepare their favorite dishes -- a fitting tribute to the variety of eateries that make Philadelphia a diverse dining destination! In 2008, this annual event will find a new home, on the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing. A Taste of Philadelphia, a joint production of Welcome America, Inc. and the Penn's Landing Corporation, will take place on Saturday, July 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 6 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. as part of the Sunoco Welcome America! Festival. Sunoco Welcome America! is Philadelphia's annual 9-day celebration of America's birthday in America's birthplace.

A Taste of Philadelphia is a chance to indulge in fine dining on a fast food budget with entrees that might cost $20 or more in fine dining venues -- each taste for less than five dollars. In 2007, more than 25,000 festival goers and visitors to Independence National Park enjoyed the food and the fun. To allow for more participation, the event has moved to the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing. This event design allows visitors and participants to stroll the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing while sampling delicious food and learning more about what makes Philadelphia food famous. Plus, each day of the event will be accompanied by exciting live stage entertainment.

A Taste of Philadelphia will highlight Philadelphia's reputation as a restaurant city for two days. Last season featured crabcakes, Asian fusion, Southern cuisine, and, of course, cheesesteaks from some of Philadelphia's most famous restaurants. There will be a variety of incredible edibles to tease your palate, including beverages, ethnic specialties, and an array of grilled delights will be available, along with July 4th standbys like burgers and fries.
