BALTIMORE, May 22, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) F. Suzanne Jenniches, sector vice president and general manager of the company's Government Systems Division, has received the Chair's Award from the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) for her "continued advancement of the engineering profession."

Established in 1980, the AAES Chair's Award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the welfare of our nation. As 2005 AAES chair, Jenniches led the organization's successful transition to a member- and program-focused engineering organization.

At Northrop Grumman, Jenniches oversees the company's Baltimore-based businesses of postal automation systems; international air defense and infrastructure systems; and homeland defense. She is also responsible for operational sites in Belgium, France, the Middle East and North Africa.
She has served on numerous committees and professional organizations. She was the past president of the national Society of Women Engineers, a past member to the United States Army Science Board, and a member of the National Research Council Committee on Commercial/Military Integration. She currently serves on the Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering National Advisory Council and chairs the National Academy of Engineering "EngineerGirl!" Web site.
Jenniches joined the company in 1974 as an engineer responsible for computerized test. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Clarion State College and her master's degree in environmental engineering from Johns Hopkins University. She has also completed extensive post-graduate work in international affairs at The Catholic University of America and has attended the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development.
