Nashville Metro Police to Reissue TASER Devices to Officers

Follows Three-Year Review of Medical Research on Devices

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 30, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices (ECDs) released the following NEWS ALERT:

According to a report in the May 29, 2008 edition of The Tennessean, Nashville Metro Police announced that they have plans to reissue TASER(r) X26 Electronic Control Devices to each on-duty officer who wants one for a shift. The officer must be trained in the use of the TASER device to be issued one.

According to the article, Police Chief Ronal Serpas said that he's carefully considered the medical research on the weapons, and he's confident that the benefits outweigh the perceived risks. Chief Serpas also is attributed as stating that there is no credible research to suggest that TASER devices cause significant injury.

"This is all about reducing injury and the number of times we have to go hand-to-hand with people," Serpas is quoted as saying.
