SEATTLE, June 2, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- During the business luncheon of the Insurance Accounting & Systems Association (IASA) held today during the 2008 IASA Annual Educational Conference & Business Show members elected Michael Holmes of State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company as president of the association for the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
Holmes currently serves State Auto in a senior financial accounting position and has been with the company for many years. In addition, he has held various management team positions during the time he has volunteered for IASA, most notably including chief financial officer, vice president of chapters and vice president of seminars.

"Mike has been active in IASA chapters and the international association for many years and has worked hard to promote IASA in the insurance industry. Holmes attended his first IASA Annual Conference in 1970 and quickly found value in the association. He joined the IASA Midwest Chapter and started volunteering on a regular basis. When his career path led him to Indianapolis, Indiana and State Auto, Holmes became involved in the IASA Indianapolis Chapter first as a regular member and then as secretary, treasurer, vice president and eventually as president of the chapter.
"Involvement in IASA's local chapters is where my passion for the work IASA does really developed," said Holmes. "For 38 years, I have watched and helped IASA continue to raise the bar, offering exceptional educational, networking and professional development opportunities for accounting and technology professionals within the insurance industry, and that long history is just part of the reason I am so proud to be elected to this position by my friends and peers in the association."
