AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. Announces Quota Share Reinsurance Agreement


NEW YORK, June 4, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:AFSI) today announced that it has entered into a reinsurance agreement with Maiden Holdings, Ltd. (Maiden) for business written and acquired through its acquisition of Unitrin Business Insurance (UBI).

Under the agreement, AmTrust will cede, through its subsidiaries, approximately $80 million of unearned premium from the in force book of business acquired June 1, 2008 from UBI. Additionally AmTrust will cede 40% of net premium written as a result of this acquisition, effective June 1, 2008, through the time of the initial reinsurance agreement between the two companies. AmTrust will be paid a ceding commission by Maiden of 34.375% and a brokerage commission of 1.25%.
