MCLEAN, Va., June 5, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) proudly showed its support for the Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas (ArkLaTex) chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) as the title sponsor of the Inaugural Scholarship Awards Ceremony on May 8, 2008.

The AFCEA ArkLaTex Chapter Scholarship is offered to high school graduating seniors who have declared college majors in electronics, electrical or computer engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, information technology, or a related field, and who have maintained a 3.0 grade-point-average or better.

The inaugural scholarship was awarded to 10 students from area high schools:

Northrop Grumman also supports teachers and students still in high school through various programs including the Northrop Grumman Foundation's Weightless Flights of Discovery program, giving teachers the experiences and tools to show students science and math can be fun, as well as the FIRST Robotics Competition, aimed at developing interest in engineering.
