Ironton Telephone Company Executive Receives Major Statewide Recognition

Award Celebrates Distinguished Service to Consumers and Telephone Industry

HERSHEY, Pa., June 17, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- The Pennsylvania Telephone Association (PTA) honored Tim Hausman of North Whitehall Township, PA, for his outstanding contributions to the telecommunications industry, the Association, and the customers he serves. Mr. Hausman is the director of network operations at Ironton Telephone Company in Ironton, PA. He also serves as chairman of the Engineering Committee for PTA. He received his award at a ceremony following PTA's annual banquet last evening. The awards ceremony is part of PTA's 106th annual convention being held June 15-18 at The Hotel Hershey in Hershey, PA.

"Tim's experience and knowledge of the telephone industry, coupled with his leadership within PTA, have been exemplary. He is an energetic self-starter whose determination and motivation have brought about success for himself, Ironton and the industry," said David Freet, PTA President. "As a dedicated leader and enthusiastic participant within the PTA, Tim has been an inspiration to other members and has aided the PTA with his contributions and expertise. He is a person you can call on anytime -- he guarantees the call will 'complete.'"

Mr. Hausman joined Ironton Telephone Company in 1986 following service in the United States Army where his specialty was telecommunications. He was mentored by the company's president, Bill George, and vice president, Allen George. Through self motivation, determination, commitment and many years of hard work and dedication, Hausman became director of network operations at Ironton in 2001. In addition to that role, he is also involved in security and regulatory affairs for Ironton.

Hausman's involvement with the PTA began early in his career. He is currently chairman of the Engineering Committee and continues to demonstrate commitment and leadership through his participation within the organization.

Hausman and his wife Pat reside in North Whitehall Township where he coaches baseball and is active in various youth groups. They have two sons, Stephen and Nicholas.

Distinguished service awards were inaugurated in 2002, during the Association's 100th anniversary year, to honor those pioneers who have helped pave the way to make PTA and the telecommunications industry in Pennsylvania a critical component of the state's infrastructure.

PTA represents rural local telephone exchange providers throughout the Commonwealth. Born under a different name in the early 1900's and today based in Harrisburg, PTA has provided Pennsylvania's smallest and largest telephone companies with a clear voice for more than a century. Committed to the future of telecommunications, the PTA serves as an informational clearinghouse for its members, as an advocate with state regulators and legislators and as a watchdog of consumer protection.
