Small fire in the production area of AAK in Aarhus, Denmark

This afternoon there was a small fire in the production area of AAK in Aarhus,
Denmark; more specifically in the Soap Splitting plant. The fire has been put
out, and there are no serious injuries. An AAK employee was hit by some ”drops”
of hot oil on his arm, which resulted in a few blisters. This was treated at the
site.

The production in general and deliveries to customers are not expected to be
affected by the temporary stop in the Soap Splitting plant.

There was heavy smoke at the site, but the fire was soon under control. At the
time, the fire department did not know if the smoke was hazardous, so all
employees were ordered to leave the area. It later turned out that this was not
the case, and the employees were allowed to go back into the area.

The fire arose in the Soap Splitting plant when an external fitter was using an
angle grinder during maintenance. A spark ignited material nearby. The fitter
and employees set off the alarm themselves.

Production in the entire area was stopped - this in accordance with safety
regulations. All plants, except the Soap Splitting plant, will start up shortly.
