City National Bank Helps Underwrite Upcoming American Heart Association Annual Heart Walk With $5,000 Donation

LAS VEGAS, July 9, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank today announced that it has donated $5,000 to the Las Vegas Division of the American Heart Association in support of its annual heart walk fundraising event to be held on October 11, 2008. City National has been a major contributor of both monetary and volunteer support to the American Heart Association for many years (For an image related to this story, go to http://www.cnb.com/images/photos/aha.jpg.)

"The American Heart Association is certainly one of the premier nonprofit groups in our valley and one that we are very proud to support each year," said John Guedry, executive vice president and Nevada region manager of City National Bank. "Heart disease and stroke continues to be the leading causes of death in our country, which is why our support of such a worthy cause is more critical today than ever before."

Guedry added that the bank's support of nonprofit groups like the American Heart Association goes far beyond its monetary contributions. Volunteer outreach through serving on nonprofit boards and colleague involvement continues to be an integral part of the bank's ongoing commitment to philanthropy.

Dean Collins, vice president and branch relationship manager of the City National's Hughes Center branch, serves on the board of the Las Vegas Division of the American Heart Association. Collins is in his third year serving on the board of this and several other nonprofit groups. Collins also served as the walk chair of the Las Vegas Heart Walk for the past two years.

Senior officers of the bank are encouraged to serve on at least one nonprofit group each year. Guedry serves on several nonprofit boards, including Opportunity Village, Women's Development Center and more.

"City National Bank's continued support of our organization is like the good housekeeping seal of approval on what we offer this community," said Jason Belland, executive director of the Las Vegas Division of American Heart Association. "Without the generous support of companies like City National Bank, we would not be able to promote our mission of fighting heart disease and stroke."

Belland added that there are more than 22.5 million association volunteers and supporters working in their communities helping their friends, neighbors and loved ones affected by heart disease live longer and better lives. Heart disease devastates the lives of millions of people of all ages and kills more than 930,000 Americans each year.

This year's Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, October 11, at Mountain's Edge Master-Planned Community, Exploration Park. Over 150 area businesses will be represented at this year's Heart Walk, with an expected 6,000 participants walking the 5k course at Mountain's Edge. City National will participate as a corporate sponsor and have a corporate walk team for this year's Heart Walk.
