From Persecution to Redemption -- Follow a Young Jewish Girl's Journey From the Horrors of WWII to a Life of Dedication in the Land of the Free

ALTADENA, Calif., July 9, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Among all the horrifying memories a World War II survivor can have, those of a young Jewish girl growing up in war-torn Romania were not the only ones, but each and every one of them was unique. This is the story of author Judith Lowe, brought together in a new book aptly called, My Journey to Freedom, released by Xlibris.

Born to Jewish physicians, Lowe's comfortable existence is shattered by the onset of what would become the worst war in history. The difficult rationing situation in Romania would give way to terror as the never-ending battles of war leave a wake of destruction in its path.

Lowe outlives the horrors of the Jewish persecution and starts her medical practice in a country under communist rule. She vividly recounts heart-wrenching tales of struggling to provide optimal health care under difficult, bureaucratic and sometimes primitive conditions. Eventually, her quest for freedom brings her to America where she again struggles to adjust in a new-but free-world. Here the author finally finds the freedom.

Accompany Dr. Judith Lowe on a journey to revisit the painful memories of a time long gone, as she relishes the freedom she had long sought. Join her as she brings honor to the memory of patients old and new who, no matter how different in social status, showed the same kind of gratitude for the doctor's devotion.

About the Author

After having practiced internal medicine for 40 years, Dr. Judith Lowe retired in May of 1999. She enjoys reading and writing. Drawing and painting have always been cherished activities, for which she now dedicates more of her newfound free time.

In her published children's book, "Animals at the Zoo, On the Loose Too," she shared her love of animals. "My Journey to Freedom" is a memoir. Rather than being an autobiographical account, it is a description of her recollections of events and people she has encountered at different times in her life.

Dr. Judith Lowe lives with her family in Southern California.
