Welwind Energy International Corp. Announces Zhanjiang and Peace River Project Update

SAN DIEGO, July 21, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Welwind Energy International Corp (the "Company") (OTCBB:WWEI) announces Zhanjiang update -- Heavy flooding that has swept through most parts of Southern China recently have caused a delay in Welwind's trip to China. Meetings previously scheduled with Provincial officials have been postponed until today due to the government's focus on relief efforts. The new wave of rainstorms have caused suspended shipping service in the Three Gorges section of the Yangtze River, blocked traffic in cities, delayed flights, destroyed homes, and flooded farmland. Welwind Canadian management anticipates leaving for China next week. Welwind's directors in China anticipate the PPA to be completed in early August.

Peace River Region -- On July 17th a train carrying the first wind turbines to be set up in British Columbia arrived at the Dokie wind farm, 40 kilometres northwest of Chetwynd. Eight turbines will be installed this fall and are the first of 48 3 MW turbines intended to be up and operating at the site by fall 2009. Once up, they will produce 144 megawatts, enough to power 34,000 homes a year. This is significant news for Welwind as this particular project is adjacent to the company's proposed wind farm project. With a PPA announced by this company a few weeks ago, Welwind is excited to see the development of British Columbia's first wind farm. "This project demonstrates BC hydro's commitment to the future of the Province, environment and in the industry as a whole. We are well aware of the viability of a project in the Peace region and look to a successful installation of the wind farm," says Shannon de Delley, Director of Welwind.
