SolarWorld AG has successfully and consistently continued the expansion of
its national and international group business in the 2nd quarter of 2008.
Group sales from April through June went up by 46.6 per cent over the same
period last year to 259.6 (previous year: 177.1) million EUR and by 38.6
per cent in the 1st half of 2008 to 427.1 (previous year: 308.1) million
EUR.
The operating result before interest and tax (EBIT) grew in the 2nd quarter
of 2008 by 54.5 per cent to 75.7 (previous year: 49.0) million EUR and in
the 1st half of 2008 by 41.4 per cent to 118.5 (previous year: 83.8)
million EUR.
Group profits from continued operations increased in the 2nd quarter by
96.2 per cent to 51.8 (previous year: 26.4) million EUR and in the 1st half
of the fiscal year by 55.2 per cent to 73.7 (previous year: 47.5) million
EUR.
Group profits including those from discontinued operations amounted to 87.3
million EUR in the 1st half of 2008 due to proceeds from the sale of shares
in Gällivare Photo Voltaic AB (GPV) amounting to 13.6 million EUR.
The group expects to exceed the forecast for fiscal year 2008.
