LAS VEGAS, Aug. 7, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- City National Bank today announced that Gary Harmon has been named the new Nevada credit manager. Harmon is a 35 year veteran of the banking industry who joined City National Bank in February of this year as senior vice president and relationship manager in the Real Estate Division.

In his new capacity, Harmon will be responsible for the Nevada credit department, lending policies and procedures, credit decisions, and all statewide lending personnel, which consists of nearly 30 colleagues. He will be housed at the bank's regional center in Summerlin at 10801 W. Charleston Boulevard near I-215 in northwest Las Vegas, but will travel statewide working with lending personnel in all of the Nevada markets served by the bank. Harmon will report to John Guedry, executive vice president and Nevada region manager of City National Bank.
Prior to joining City National in February of this year, Harmon worked for Bank of America and its predecessor, Valley Bank of Nevada, for 22 years. During his tenure with these two banks, he served in a variety of positions, including his most recent job as senior vice president and market manager of the homebuilder division. He also worked in the commercial real estate group, corporate commercial lending, gaming finance and real estate lending groups.
Prior to moving to Las Vegas in 1985, Harmon served as vice president and senior lending officer for Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Association in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his banking career with this Ohio-based S&L in 1972 as a management trainee before becoming a branch manager followed by a loan officer in the construction and commercial lending group. Harmon also served as an officer for three years in the United States Army.

Harmon is a graduate of Ashland University in Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Psychology. He also completed various banking courses from the University of Connecticut and Notre Dame University, as well as the American Institute of Banking (AIB). Harmon has been actively involved in the community serving as a member of various trade and nonprofit organizations, including Southern Nevada Homebuilder's Association, NAIOP, Nevada Bankers Association, and HomeAid of Southern Nevada.
