Foundry Simplifies Business Operations With IBM Tivoli Integration Solution

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 12, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end routing and switching, today announced out-of-the-box integration with IBM Tivoli Netcool software for customers using Foundry(r) switching and routing products. This integration facilitates simplified operations for Foundry customers using IBM Tivoli Netcool, thereby helping improve business efficiency.

This technology partnership allows Tivoli Netcool software to effectively manage Foundry switches and routers in networks, element/network management systems and applications. By monitoring alerts sent by the Foundry devices in a network, the IBM Tivoli Netcool integration provides the following benefits:

 * Automated deduplication of events and alarms in Tivoli Netcool
 * Automated correlation of problem/resolution events in a network
 * Automated advanced correlation, including events pre-classification
   and intra-device correlation
 * Informative and descriptive event presentation in Tivoli Netcool.

As a result of this advanced rules-based integration, root cause analysis of faults in a large network can be rapidly analyzed, thereby improving operational efficiency. The Netcool/OMNIbus Integration Module covers the following Foundry products:

 * NetIron(r) XMR Series and NetIron MLX Series of MPLS routers
 * BigIron(r) RX Layer 3 routing switches
 * FastIron(r) SuperX(tm) and FastIron SX converged switches
 * FastIron Edge Series and FastIron Edge Series X switches
 * FastIron GS Series switches
 * ServerIron(r) application delivery switches and IronPoint WLAN
   solutions.

"This newly formed alliance enables integration of a variety of Foundry devices with the real-time event- and fault-management solution Netcool/OMNIbus," said Al Zollar, general manager of Tivoli Software, IBM. "The ease with which we integrated Foundry's products with Netcool/OMNIbus is testament to their consistent management framework that is implemented across their entire product portfolio."

"We are pleased to be working with IBM to provide simplified integration for our joint customers," said Ken Cheng, vice president and general manager for Foundry's High-End and Service Provider Systems Business Unit. "Foundry is committed to working with leading OSS systems vendors to deliver integrated and interoperable solutions with our enterprise and service provider switches and routers."
