COPsync Successfully Processes and Relays Officer Initiated Information Requests in Less Than Five Seconds, Exceeding Standards Set Forth by the National Crime Information Center

CANYON LAKE, Texas, Aug. 18, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- COPsync, Inc. (OTCBB:COYN), one of only a limited number of mobile software vendors with the ability to access critical crime information databases directly from mobile devices in patrol cars, announces today that for three quarters the Company's software, COPsync, has successfully been providing officers with access to the information available in the Texas Crime Information Center (TCIC) and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) databases. To date, COPsync has successfully submitted, processed and relayed over 15,000 officer initiated information requests. On average, COPsync is returning results to mobile users in less than 5 seconds, well within the 32 second average set forth by the NCIC 2000 standards for mobile clients.

The TCIC and NCIC are hosted and maintained by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation. These databases are interlinked with other states' criminal information databases to provide a single point of access to this information for law enforcement agencies within the state.

"The importance of being able to directly access these databases, which store information about criminal and vehicle history, in a mobile environment cannot be understated," says Karl Werner, Director of Technology for COPsync, Inc. "Not only does this access provide the officer with critical information, it also eliminates the need for the officer to contact a dispatcher to obtain the information, which, at times, can be delayed if the dispatcher is handling other calls or emergency situations."

The Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (TLETS) provides law enforcement agencies and third party law enforcement product vendors with the ability to query this information. To be certified for connection to TLETS, COPsync had to comply with the strict standards and guidelines set forth in the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services security policy. COPsync then had to satisfy a rigorous security review by the Texas DPS and complete technical testing at the DPS facility.

"Armed with fast and reliable TLETS access, partnered with the information sharing capabilities of COPsync, our customers have more information immediately available to them in the field than ever before, enhancing their safety and effectiveness," continued Mr. Werner.
