STOXX Changes Composition of European Benchmark Indexes

Results of the Third Regular Quarterly Review to be Effective On September 22, 2008


ZURICH, Switzerland, Aug. 19, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- STOXX Ltd. today announced changes in the composition of the Dow Jones STOXX Global 1800 Index, the Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Index and its sector indexes, the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index and the Dow Jones STOXX Football Index.

Effective as of the open of European markets on September 22, 2008, the following 18 stocks will be added to the Dow Jones STOXX 600 and its respective size and sector indexes: ABERDEEN ASSET MANAGEMENT (U.K., Financial Services, AND.LN), AVEVA GRP (U.K., Technology, AVV.LN), CRODA INTERNATIONAL (U.K., Chemicals, CRDA.LN), EFG INTERNATIONAL (Switzerland, Banks, EFGN.EB), ELEKTA B (Sweden, Health Care, EKTA-B.SK), ENDESA (Spain, Utilities, ELE.MC; ELEZF), GENMAB (Denmark, Health Care, GEN.KO), ILIAD (France, Technology, 403591.FR), IMPERIAL ENERGY (U.K., Oil & Gas, IEC.LN), INTERCELL (Austria, Health Care, ICLL.VI), NORDDEUTSCHE AFFINERIE (Germany, Basic Resources, NDA.XE), NUTRECO (Netherlands, Food & Beverage, 37540.AE), QINETIQ GRP (U.K., Industrial Goods & Services, QQ.LN), ROTORK (U.K., Industrial Goods & Services, ROR.LN), STRABAG (Austria, Construction & Materials, STR.VI), SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT (France, Industrial Goods and Services, SEV.FR), TELEPERFORMANCE (France, Media, 5180.FR) and WELLSTREAM HLDG (U.K., Oil & Gas, WSM.LN).

The sector classification for the Dow Jones STOXX 600 components ACKERMANS & VAN HAAREN (Belgium, Industrial Goods & Services, ACKB.BT) will change to Financial Services.

Furthermore, STOXX Limited will adopt the updated Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) structure. Effective September 22, 2008, there will be 10 Industries, 19 Supersectors, 41 Sectors and 114 Subsectors.

Due to the implementation of the new industry classification system, the sector classification for the Dow Jones STOXX 600 components GAMESA (Spain, Industrial Goods & Services, GAM.MC), Q-CELLS (Germany, Industrial Goods & Services, QCE.XE), REC (Norway, Utilities, REC.OS), SOLARWORLD (Germany, Utilities, SWV.XE) and VESTAS WIND SYSTEMS (Denmark, Industrial Goods & Services, VWS.KO; VWSYF) will change to Oil & Gas.

The Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index, the Dow Jones STOXX Global 1800 and the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index are also part of this regular quarterly review. The new composition of the indexes can be found at http://www.stoxx.com/news/reviews.html

As of July 31, 2008, the total free-float market capitalization of the reconstituted Dow Jones STOXX 600 increased to EUR 5,35 trillion from EUR 5,34 trillion, and the total free-float market capitalization of the reconstituted Dow Jones STOXX Total Market Index remains unchanged at EUR 5,72 trillion.

The composition of the Dow Jones STOXX Football Index will remain unchanged. The total free-float market capitalization of the Dow Jones STOXX Football Index also stays unchanged at EUR 938.99 million.

The total free-float market capitalizations of the reconstituted Dow Jones STOXX Global 1800 Index and Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index decreased to EUR 16,08 trillion from EUR 16,12 trillion and to EUR 102.44 billion from EUR 103.13 billion, respectively.

Changes are being announced today after the conclusion of a regular quarterly component review. The adjusted component weightings, including the number of shares and free-float factors, will be announced on September 17, 2008, after close of European markets. All changes will be effective as of the open of European markets on September 22, 2008.
