Meet Bandit, a Loveable, Inquisitive Raccoon -- New Picture Book Follows a Raccoon's Life Story Living With a Couple Near Their Home

HUDSON, Ohio, Aug. 22, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It is not everyday that we hear about human kindness towards raccoons. In many states, it is illegal to harbor them, but this is a different kind of love story. Most of us look at them as troublesome creatures from the wild that have a reputation of ruining crops at farms or dumping over garbage cans for food. Still with the proper way of raising and taking care of them, raccoons can be a joy. A true story about raising this raccoon is all set to begin with the release of Bandit "A Raccoon Tail," a new photographic picture book by Norma L. Lapierre. It is told in "first-person" by Bandit herself and includes actual photographs taken by the author. Bandit was taken to a wild animal rehabber who inoculated her and requested the author's help to raise and release her.

Written for the young, the old and people who care about animals, Bandit "A Raccoon Tail" follows the life and times of Bandit, who was abandoned by her raccoon mother when she was just a few days old. She grows up under the tender, loving care of the author and her husband. From time to time, Bandit goes around in two different worlds, the family's home and the surroundings. Aside from that, she gets to meet new friends, plays with cat and dog toys, gets into great mischief and even eats foods that are different from what wild raccoons eat. Bandit has shown a wonderful connection between humans and wild animals that readers won't ever forget.
