Lauren International VP Reappointed to State of Ohio Workers' Compensation Board of Directors

Human Resources Executive Selected by Governor to Represent the State's Large Employers

NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio, Aug. 25, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jim Hummel, vice president of human resources at Lauren International, has been reappointed to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) Board of Directors by Gov. Ted Strickland.

In July, Strickland announced his appointments to fill three seats on the 11-member board for three-year terms. Hummel was appointed to a one-year term on the newly established board last year by Strickland after being selected out of 112 applicants. As an experienced board member, Hummel will continue to represent the state's large employers and advise BWC's administrator on all critical matters and provide independent verification of BWC's financial and operational performance.

"I am both humbled and honored to be reappointed to such an influential organization," Hummel said. "During the past year, the board has made a positive impact on the workers' compensation system through programs that aim to reduce costs for employers, retain Ohio businesses and appeal to new businesses for the area."

According to Hummel, he will continue to focus on changing the mindset of Ohio employees about workplace safety. "My work on the board is a direct reflection of the commitment Lauren takes in educating our employees on how to stay healthy and safe at work and at home," added Hummel.

During his 19-year tenure at Lauren International, Hummel has implemented many programs that protect both the company's assets and its employees. Under his supervision, the company created a wellness program that successfully reduced health and workers' compensation related expenses among employees.
