Kansas City Financial Communicator Wins Recognition and Completes Advanced Training in Investor Relations, Announces Johnson Strategic Communications


OVERLAND, Kan., Aug. 25, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Johnson Strategic Communications Inc. today announced that Richard M. Johnson, president, completed the University of Michigan's executive education program in "The Theory and Practice of Investor Relations." The advanced training covers the financial, communication and regulatory aspects of relationships between companies and investors. The program is attended by investor relations professionals from around the world.

Johnson won a scholarship to attend the course in a competition among chapter officers of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), a 4,400-member professional association dedicated to excellence in financial communication. Johnson currently is program co-chair of the Kansas City chapter of NIRI and served as president of the chapter from 2003 to 2006. NIRI co-sponsors the annual program at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.

With more than three decades of experience in communications, Johnson helps companies tell their story to investors and other key audiences. Before launching Johnson Strategic in 1997, he was director of media and investor relations for Hoechst AG, a global chemical and pharmaceutical company. He began his career as a reporter and editor for The Kansas City Star. Johnson has a bachelor's degree in Economics from Princeton and an MBA in Finance and Management from Rockhurst.
