AP Avionx Launches Into Commercial Aerospace Market

As New Business Unit of AP Labs, AP Avionx is Premier Supplier of Integrated Hardware Systems for Commercial Aerospace, IFE&C Market

LONG BEACH, Calif., Sept. 9, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AP Labs, Inc. today announced the launch of a new business unit called AP Avionx at the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA) Annual Conference & Exhibition in Long Beach, Calif. AP Avionx is a premier supplier of integrated hardware systems for the commercial aerospace industry and In-Flight Entertainment & Communication (IFE&C) market in particular.

Due to the escalating demand from commercial and private aircraft passengers to access in-flight broadband services, the IFE&C market is poised for substantial growth. In fact, recent research from MultiMedia Intelligence suggests that the market for in-flight broadband services is expected to grow to nearly $936 million in passenger revenue in 2012, up from initial revenue of $6.6 million this year. While these predictions clearly suggest an influx of new additional revenue streams for airline operators, they will also continue to drive the need for technology companies, such as AP Avionx, to build and supply platform components that provide critical computing, storage or communication capabilities to enable such services.

With more than 20 years of experience building ultra-rugged computing platforms designed for commercial and defense applications, AP Avionx will utilize AP Labs' thorough understanding of engineering high-performance, mission critical computers deployed in harsh environments.

Further, the launch of AP Avionx is a complement to AP Labs traditional rugged chassis and systems integration business, and its mission will be to create highly advanced computing, storage and communication solutions for commercial in-flight applications.

"We're pleased to introduce AP Avionx as a new business unit that leverages the quality, reliability and technical expertise that our customers have come to expect from AP Labs for more than two decades," said John M. Goode, Jr., president and COO for AP Labs (and AP Avionx). "I believe that the launch of AP Avionx will take the company to an enhanced level of success as business grows with new customers, products and company personnel."

The company's products include critical system components to enable in-flight broadband services including: Internet, VPN access, email, multimedia capabilities, video-on-demand, games and additional entertainment choices in a fully-integrated wireless cabin over a broadband air-to-ground or air-to-satellite link.

Current product applications offered from AP Avionx include systems designs for both cockpit and cabin such as servers, media servers, wireless RF based systems, wireless access points, power solutions and airborne wireless broadband systems for commercial aircraft - bringing affordable broadband data and voice services to airline passengers.

AP Avionx excels at working with customers who are seeking a development partner with advanced systems and packaging experience, and can design products that focus on light-weight, low-power, and small foot print packaging schemes. To date, AP Avionx has announced customer relationships with Row 44, Aircell and Verizon Airfone.

AP Avionx will be exhibiting in booth #152 at WAEA, September 8-11, 2008, offering product demos and an introduction to the company.
