Nationwide Announces Winner Shortlist for Mercury Awards


LONDON, Sept. 9, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Nationwide Mercury Prize Awards Show is being held tonight in London and will feature live performances from many of this year's shortlisted artists including The Last Shadow Puppets, Elbow, Estelle, Neon Neon, Adele, Laura Marling and British Sea Power. The event will culminate with the live announcement of the overall winner of the 2008 Prize.

Many of the artists have flown into the UK especially for the prestigious event, which will be broadcast on BBC Two, Radio 1 and Radio 2 throughout this week.

BBC Two will be broadcasting live coverage of the event from 10pm GMT tonight presented by Lauren Laverne and Jools Holland. BBC Two will also be broadcasting a 65 minute special on Friday 12 September at 11:35pm GMT.
