FARMERSVILLE, Texas, Sept. 10, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Enjoy a fascinating journey through history as author Joe L. Blevins presents: After the Republic, the second volume of his historical trilogy. Learn new and exciting things as you explore our great historic past. This true story is what makes our history so important to be remembered!

After the Republic begins as Texas becomes the 28th state to the Federal States, issues remain unresolved with Mexico. Santa Anna returns to power after his exile in Cuba. He raises an army to take control of the province of California, and renews his threat to retake Texas by force. He demands that Texas is to remain a republic and since she has joined the Federal States, he declares an all-out war. The Comanche and Kiowa nations find themselves caught in the middle of this battle, and they make an uneasy truce with some settlers who they knew would represent their interests.

Andrew is a freed slave who is adopted by the Cherokee tribe. He farms and trades wild horses between local tribes and to the army. He rejoins the army after Fort Worth suffers a blow from the water-born illness, Typhoid. Horses held a high value with so many needed for the Mexican War, and the great influx of settlers to the new state. Santa Anna continues the threat of war with the Federal States since they have annexed Texas as a state against his wishes. The battle for the control of Northern Mexico and the full-fledged war that becomes the Mexican "Civil War" begins as the Mexican born Tejanos have sided with the Americans! Internal strife would be a terrible cancer on Texas and the Federal States. Peace between the tribes is even more precious as Texas cannot risk a battle on two fronts. How will Texas end this continuing war? When will peace finally be restored?

After the Republic gives us a unique view of the pioneer days through the eyes of Nineteenth century pioneers. It vividly describes the frontier life, the hardships and the celebration of daily life. Read this compelling, true story about the battle for peace in Texas, with the real characters, and actual events that make our history great! About the Author

Joe L. Blevins is an avid history buff; as some men are sport's nuts: Joe is a history nut. All his life he has studied about history. He is an artist, an avid photographer, musician, and a character actor in a number of movies. This book allows him to combine these many interests. Joe's family came to Texas when it was still a republic. They were part of an early settlement set up in north Texas under the supervision of the Peters' Colony. This was the actual, historic Lonesome Dove settlement that began in early 1845. This is the real story that Joe is concerned in telling, as this has been his pet project for over 30 years.
