Emulex Joins VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative to Deliver Customized, Exclusive Programs for Joint Partners

Only Connectivity Partner in VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 15, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VMworld -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX) today announced it is participating in the VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative to provide partners with customized, exclusive programs and incentives for selling Emulex products combined with VMware virtualization solutions. As the only connectivity partner in the VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative, Emulex's channel partners will benefit from added profitability opportunities and be rewarded for creating complete server virtualization solutions for customers.

"VMware welcomes Emulex as part of its Alliance Affiliate Initiative, which is designed to increase partner profitability and motivate partners to jointly sell, service and support virtualization-based solutions," said Steve Houck, vice president of worldwide channels at VMware. "Emulex is a longstanding VMware partner and we recognize Emulex's dedication to enriching the features of its products for end users who deploy server virtualization in their data centers. Emulex was selected to join this program based on its highly integrated, results-driven partner program that has been customized for our joint channel partners."

Emulex has long been a leader in developing and driving new technology and standards, such as N-Port ID Virtualization (NPIV), to fuel server virtualization adoption. Emulex's Virtual HBA technology, with support for NPIV, allows end users to effectively 'virtualize' the SAN connection such that each virtual machine has independent access to its own protected storage.

"Customers are demanding more integrated solutions and the VMware Alliance Affiliate Initiative provides our channel partners with added profitability opportunities for creating complete server virtualization solutions," said Steve Marconi, vice president of worldwide channel sales, Emulex Corporation. "Emulex and VMware channel partners will benefit from customized programs and incentives that will capitalize on the market opportunity for selling solutions that support the industry-leading VMware platform."

At VMworld, September 15-18, 2008, Emulex will be demonstrating its latest Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet connectivity solutions, as well as the latest capabilities of its HBAnyware(r) management suite in its booth, #428.
