Moderro Announces Web 2.0 Cloud Computer

NEW YORK, Sept. 17, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- 2008 Web 2.0 Expo (Booth 1345) -- Moderro Technologies today announced the launch of Xpack Web 2.0 Cloud Computer -- first in a new generation of web thin clients.

Moderro's unique combination of software and hardware make up a platform for the ultimate web-centric computing experience. Its innovative desktop environment allows convenient navigation through open browser windows with thumbnail presentation on the bottom of the screen. The product's Smart Application Launcher allows web-based applications to run in native desktop windows providing the familiar look and feel of desktop applications. Secure browsing, together with convenient remote assistance and network management, create a compelling user experience, where the network becomes a platform for multiple applications and services.

Xpack desktop hardware is small and quiet, yet powerful enough to execute any demanding Web 2.0 application. The design uniquely integrates a VESA mounting option, allowing the unit to be mounted on the back of the LCD display. Dual VGA/DVI output options coupled with monitor auto-detection, allows you to use a wide range of monitors and for superior quality in visual representation. Xpack also features integrated security slot and convectional cooling design, making it ideal for public installations. Built using advanced power-saving technology and software-driven power-management functions, Xpack's energy consumption is a fraction of that of a regular computer.

"PCs and PC-based networks have become incredibly complex due to layer after layer of software and legacy compatibility, which ultimately has to be managed," said Dan Itkis, Vice President of Moderro Technologies. "With the industry on the brink of a transition from desktop to internet computing, Xpack Desktop hits the sweet spot of the market with the feature set appealing to organizations looking to contain their IT costs and drastically reduce the complexity of their computing environment, while retaining the flexibility, manageability, and richness of web applications."

Moderro is initially targeting its Xpack product for public venues, medical, education and training facilities, as well as private and government offices ready to embrace cloud computing. Xpack is available in limited quantities now, with general availability for commercial applications scheduled for November 2008. Xpack price starts at $395. Moderro product demonstration can be found at the Web2.0 show in booth 1345. Additional information about Moderro Technologies can be found on company web site http://www.moderro.com.
