Ivy Hotel Celebrates One-Year Anniversary With CARE

Sarah Michelle Gellar to Host Reception to Benefit CARE's Fight Against Global Poverty

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - September 23, 2008) - The Ivy Hotel will commemorate its first anniversary on Friday, September 26 through Sunday, September 28 with a weekend-long celebration of celebrity appearances, entertainment and signature Ivy Hotel style. A portion of the proceeds from the three-day event will benefit CARE, a leading humanitarian organization that fights global poverty by empowering women. One of the weekend's highlights is an exclusive Dom Perignon Charity Reception hosted by CARE Ambassador Sarah Michelle Gellar on Saturday, September 27.

"Our one-year anniversary is an important milestone, and we are thrilled to partner with CARE for this exciting event," said Rick Gluth, general manager of the Ivy Hotel. "Helping those in need has always been a priority for the Ivy Hotel, and our partnership with CARE was a natural choice because of its impeccable international reputation."

Since its grand opening, the Ivy Hotel has supported various national and local charities, including the Make the Difference Network, San Diego Senior Community Centers, Share Our Strength, the Center for Community Solutions, Tony Hawk Foundation, Headnorth Foundation, Mama's Kitchen and the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation.

"We are thankful that the Ivy Hotel has selected CARE as a partner for its anniversary celebration," said Shannon Darke of CARE. "CARE's global work would not be possible without the generosity of individual supporters and businesses such as the Ivy."

For the weekend celebration, the Ivy Hotel has invited Hollywood stars and musical performers to entertain guests and profile CARE's message and mission of fighting global poverty. In addition to CARE Ambassador Sarah Michelle Gellar, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Kiefer Sutherland, actress Regina King, actress Brittany Snow, comedian Judy Tenuta, actress Lorna Scott, model Amber Valetta and actor Scott Wolf, among others, are also scheduled to attend.

Celebrity entertainment will include performances by The Kicks, an energetic Jimmy Eat World meets Foo Fighters rock band, and sultry soul singer Melky Jean, sister of Fugees founder and Grammy Award-winning rapper, Wyclef Jean. Melky Jean, whose music has been acclaimed by Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan and Vibe Magazine, will perform at Ivy's Dom Perignon charity reception.
