NFI Industries and TransX, Inc. Select Manhattan Carrier to Match the Right Drivers With the Right Loads

ATLANTA, Sept. 29, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates Inc. (Nasdaq:MANH), today announced that NFI Industries and TransX have selected solutions from the Manhattan Carrier(tm) suite, designed to specifically address the needs of the motor carrier industry. The companies selected the Driver&Load(r) solution to match specific drivers to the best possible load combinations across its respective transportation networks while updating driver-to-load combinations in real-time. Driver&Load allows carriers to model virtually every load and driver factor within their operations. With vertically integrated planning, multiple-dispatch and auto-dispatch capabilities, trucks are automatically selected and dispatched based on pre-set load and driver factors, without human interaction.

"Manhattan's Driver&Load tool will enable us to increase equipment utilization, reduce empty miles, out-of-route miles, and more importantly, concentrate on a regional operation that is more driver-centric and profitable," said Mike Cleaver, vice president of client services, information technology at NFI Industries. "Being a Northeast-based carrier with very short length of haul, Driver&Load is a critical tool for our regional fleets, supplying them with multiple pre-plans and improved densities in those markets."

"With such a complex transportation network here at TransX, we required a real-time solution to provide us with the visibility necessary to eliminate waste, such as empty miles, out-of-route miles, and lost utilization," said Rob Perron, director of information services and technology at TransX. "At the same time, we needed a system to identify opportunities within our network to increase the utilization of our drivers and our equipment. Our drivers are our best assets and Manhattan's solution gives us the ability to help them succeed while also maximizing our revenue potential."

The Manhattan Carrier suite also includes the Drop&Swap(r), Fuel&Route(r), Profit Analyzer, Bid Response and Load Analyzer solutions, designed to enable North American truckload (TL) motor carriers and private fleet operations to improve network balance and increase resource utilization for maximum efficiency and profitability. By offering comprehensive management and day-to-day analysis of information, motor carriers are able to make strategic decisions to overcome business challenges.

"In today's market, integrated transportation companies require real-time analysis to ensure that drivers are meeting deadlines with optimized payloads," said Jeff Mitchell, Manhattan Associates' executive vice president, Americas operations. "Manhattan Carrier is specifically developed for complex, multi-tiered transportation networks like our new partners NFI and TransX."
