This is the Story of a Mother Who Lost a Son and Her Struggle to Find Acceptance and the Will to Move On in Life -- New Book Recalls Author's Tragic Experience of Losing a Child

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill., Sept. 29, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- There is no denying that the loss of a child is the most devastating experience any parent can have. In late 1982, author Judith Block had the most frightening experience of her life when she discovered that her son David was missing. Her worst nightmare came true in May 1984 when her son's lifeless body was found near the Wisconsin border. After that horrendous discovery, she struggled with the grief that followed until she was able to live with the fact of his death. Today she looks back at the past by sharing with readers how she learned to deal with the grieving process and how she was able to finally accept his death with the release of her new book, David - A Love Song.

David - A Love Song, contains words, insights and feelings that poured from the author's heart. Divided into two sections, the book recalls the events both in prose and poetic form. It emphasizes that tragedy is essentially a journey from despair to acceptance, and that grief is not a straight line but rather a progression of steps with each of there steps being hard won, but lasting once they have been achieved. Through the author's story, readers will be inspired to integrate his or her own experience into something that is acceptable to his or her own mind and find the peace that acceptance will bring. In addition, the story behind Block's loss of her son is something to which any parent can easily relate to. The message of this book is clear: once tragedy occurs and is processed, there will always be something or someone that will bring back the pain, but as time passes it becomes easier to bear, and, in the end life can be fulfilling and happy, it is sometimes bittersweet.
