Meet the Unlikely Hero -- New Book Tells a Fascinating Story of a Young Man Who Returns Home From the War Only to be Pained by His Failures On the Battle Field

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Oct. 1, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- A hero is worshiped for achieving the extraordinary and making a big difference. Yet to those who become heroes, being glorified is a painful reminder of their shortcomings. This is the moral lesson that drives a dramatic story of heroism in Unlikely Hero, a new book authored by critically-acclaimed Boyd Cooper and released through Xlibris.

Unlikely Hero follows the exploits of a young man named Jim. At age nineteen, Jim leaves the peaceful environment of his little Mormon town to fight for his country in World War II. In the Army Air Corps, he becomes a lead navigator and during his many combat missions over Germany, he becomes a highly decorated officer. Although he received much glory and honor in his military service, Jim finds himself lost when he returns home. He cannot deal with being treated like a hero for he feels guilty over the deaths of his comrades. He suffers from post-traumatic shock syndrome. Seeking peace from his troubles, he decides to go to the mountains of northern Idaho to find a childhood love. Instead, Jim finds himself.
