Brightpoint North America Announces Green Initiatives


PLAINFIELD, Ind., Oct. 2, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brightpoint, Inc. (Nasdaq:CELL) announced today that its subsidiary Brightpoint North America L.P. ("Brightpoint") and the Lt. Governor of Indiana, Becky Skillman, will join on Oct. 7 to introduce "Bright Green." Bright Green is an initiative designed to enhance Brightpoint's environmentally friendly work atmosphere. Brightpoint is committed to creating a work setting that recycles, cuts waste and reduces overall energy usage.

On Oct. 7, Brightpoint will have recycling centers for all employees for paper and plastics and have a water filtration system that will eliminate the need for pre-packaged water in plastic bottles. In addition, employees will have more carpooling options and have an advantageous parking zone for carpoolers. Lights in the warehouses will be more efficient, using fluorescent or metal halide bulbs, with an automated lighting control system coming in the near future. By the end of 2008, Brightpoint is committed to being free of all "styrofoam" containers, having a drop facility for the community to recycle cell phones and cell phone batteries at all of its North America locations and use all recycled paper for printing in all of its office locations.

Since 2000, Brightpoint has been practicing green initiatives including cardboard, scrap metals, plastics, oils, lubricants and pallet recycling in its warehouses in North America.
