MARIMEKKO CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 3 October 2008 TWO NEW MARIMEKKO CONCEPT STORES OPEN IN OSAKA, JAPAN Two new Marimekko concept stores have been set up in Osaka: One (148 sqm) was opened in the Abeno district on 9 September 2008 and the other (200 sqm) in the Umeda district on 3 October 2008. After these openings, there are a total of 14 Marimekko concept stores and shop-in-shops in Japan. Three of them are located in Osaka. Developing and anchoring the concept store idea based on Marimekko's lifestyle thinking represents an important part in the company's internationalisation strategy. There are about 50 Marimekko concept stores worldwide at the moment; the shops are owned by independent retailers. Marimekko products are sold in over 40 countries.
