Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Awarded $10.3 Million Prime Contract for Future Force, Wireless, Satcom Experimentation and Engineering Support


SAN DIEGO, Oct. 6, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading national defense, information technology and homeland security solutions provider, today announced that its Madison Research Division has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army on behalf of the Experimentation Division (EXP DIV), Capabilities Development Integration Directorate (CDID), Fort Gordon, GA. The contract has an 8-month base period plus 4 option-years with a total estimated potential value of approximately $10.3 million. This contract will support the EXP mission to provide Future Force Experimentation support to all TRADOC battle laboratories and proponents; execute battle command and branch proponent telecommunications experimentation, tactical and strategic telecom technology assessments and insertions activities; operate, manage and maintain the Battle Laboratory Collaborative Simulation Environment/Cross Command Collaborative Environment - Network Operations and Security Center (BLCSE/3CE NOSC); support the operation of the Network Service Center - Training (NSC-T) to support live force play in exercises and demonstrations; and operate and maintain the Wireless Evaluation Laboratory and Experimentation Environment (WELEE) to support evaluation of wireless technologies.

Kratos will provide network systems engineering and experimentation support for the U.S. Army Signal Center's EXP DIV. Experimentation support will include both analytical and systems engineering support in the planning, setup, design, accreditation, execution, data collection and formal written analysis of a variety of communications experiments. This support will include live experimentation of existing or prototype communications equipment and tactical networks and simulated experimentation of proposed communications solutions to support the Future Force. This support will also include the operation of the Battle Lab Collaborative Simulation Environment (BLCSE) and Network Service Center - Training (NSC-T) required to support the technology assessment and experimentation mission.
