Siemens Building Technologies Selects Techwell's TW2815 4-Channel Video Decoders With Integrated Audio for New Line of Products Developed Specifically for the Video Surveillance Market

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 7, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Security Essen 2008-Essen, Germany -- Techwell, Inc. (Nasdaq:TWLL), a leading designer of mixed signal video semiconductor solutions for the security surveillance, automotive, and consumer electronics markets, today announced Siemens Building Technologies, one of the world's leading manufacturers of Video surveillance systems, has designed Techwell's TW2815 into multiple video surveillance products to be distributed worldwide.

"To be selected by Siemens Building Technologies, a leading global security technology manufacturer, as the critical video decoder and audio core for their new range of video surveillance products again validates the performance and value of the TW2815 for worldwide security applications," said David Nam, Techwell's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "These security applications from Siemens feature the TW2815 video decoders, each offering four advanced NTSC/PAL video decoders that perform the critical analog to digital video conversions required to successfully address global video surveillance market requirements."

The first products to be launched were on show at the recent IFSEC 2008 exhibition as a part of Siemens' Innovations Wall feature. The popular SISTORE range of DVR's (Digital Video Recorders), manufactured in Germany, includes four new versions of the SISTORE MX hybrid recorders and three new versions of the SISTORE CX intelligent digital video codecs. The new platforms extend the range of video surveillance platforms offering improved processing performance and increasing the recording and transmission frame rates, as well as the resolution supported per video input. This results in products that provide full real-time encoding and streaming per channel (25 frames per second) at full D1 resolution.

The TW2815 includes four integrated analog anti-aliasing filters, 10-bit CMOS ADCs, and high-performance adaptive 4H comb filters for all NTSC/PAL standards. Both the TW2815 and TW2816 ICs provide simultaneous four channel Full D1 and CIF time-multiplexed outputs with 54MHz, and both operate at an ultra low level of power (typically 480-500 mW). In addition, the TW2815 offers four integrated audio ADCs, an audio DAC, multi-channel audio mixed analog output, and support for a standard I2S interface for record output and playback input.
