Opcon to develop energy efficient screw compressors for the Airbus A380 Svenska Rotor Maskiner (SRM), the development company within the energy and environmental technology Group Opcon, has received an order from Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS (a division of the Swiss Group Liebherr) for the development and production of a new screw compressor for the 2nd generation of Supplemental Cooling System of the Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger airliner. The agreement includes an order for development and production of an energy-efficient compressor that will be key in the Supplemental Cooling System in the Airbus A380. “This is a high profile development project for customer with the highest standards regarding efficiency, quality and reliability as well as a testament to our special standing in developing and industrialising compressor technology. It is also another example of how we can create technical solutions that significantly reduce costs and increase energy efficiency in different systems. This is a project that suits the structure we are establishing for our Renewable Energy business area with development, advanced, high-value production in small series and service. In addition to the value of the large development order we look at a future possibility of a yearly production of several millions SEK for decades to come”, says Rolf Hasselström, President and CEO of Opcon AB.
