EDGECOMB, Maine, Oct. 16, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Readers on the lookout for fantasies, mysticism and adventures can look forward to the release of The Mushroom Circle: A Fairy Tale for Giants, a new book feautirng the vivid imagination of Clare C. Newbury.

The Mushroom Circle is set on Terrapin Island, a place where rings of Marasmius Oreades mushrooms have been growing for centuries. Each year, the rings grow larger until they reach the boundary of rocks that lets them go no further. The island is inhabited by two distinct races, the giants and the wee folk composed of tiny fairies and goblins. Among them is Fearbabe, who is the king of the goblins and is accompanied by hooligans like Obsequia, Hotspur, and Whipcad, the trio most recently banished to goblinhood by the fairies. One day, he snatches a tiny cloak belonging to Osmosis the gnome, which compels fairies and their allies to offer him a trade in exchange for it. As the conflict between the goblins and fairies grow, their co-existence gets threatened soon by the dominance of the giants. Who will survive in the end? Read the book to find out.
