TUCSON, AZ--(Marketwire - October 20, 2008) - "
NASCAR Angels" reality TV
series will air an episode featuring the car makeover of an Arizona woman
who co-founded a non-profit organization benefiting single moms with
cancer. The car is currently being repaired at
Von's CARSTAR, a Tucson collision
repair center.
Von's CARSTAR is working on the car before it's transported to a Goodyear
Gemini store in Phoenix for additional repairs. The car belongs to Andy
Royal, who co-founded
Singleton
Moms. The non-profit group is named after her best friend, Michelle
Singleton, who died of breast cancer. The organization serves as a lifeline
for financial aid, preparing meals and even housecleaning for single moms
with all forms of cancer.
Yvonne Loop, co-owner of Von's CARSTAR, said it was a great opportunity and
served a wonderful purpose for a local cause that is giving back to the
community. Loop, who owns Von's CARSTAR with her husband Patrick, said
their affection for cars began a long time ago. "Patrick and I have owned
Von's for two years, but we have been car enthusiasts for decades. We are
thrilled to be helping Andy and the 'NASCAR Angels' fix up this car," she
said.
Loop added that women in general need to be more vocal when it comes to
their cars. "The No. 1 tip I can offer women is: ask questions. Ask to see
a finished car so you can review their work. Too many times women are
afraid to speak up and say: 'What are you talking about'? It's okay to ask
and understand how your car is being repaired," said Loop.
Loop also offered some tips for maintaining your vehicle's life span:
-- Check tire pressure regularly. Temperature changes cause pressure to
go up and down, which can wear out your tires.
-- Get your oil changed every 3,000 to 4,000 miles or whenever your car
manufacturer recommends.
-- Follow the manufactures rules for maintenance as outlined in your
vehicle owner guide.
This is the second time a CARSTAR location has been selected by "NASCAR
Angels" to work on a car for a deserving family. CARSTAR Collision Centers
