Discover How World War II Left Its Mark -- New Book Takes a Long Look Back At Poland's Historic Struggles Under the Nazis and the Soviet Union

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga., Oct. 21, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The dark days of World War II may long be over but the impact and memories of the conflict continues to affect millions of people to this day. People remain divided and many leaders prefer to fight each other instead of uniting for a common cause. These are the themes that drive an engaging look back through history as Xlibris releases Memoirs: World War II and Beyond, a new book authored by Hubert Poetschke.

Written in memory of the millions of people who lost their lives, Memoirs: World War II and Beyond takes a long, daring look back at the war and explores the consequences it gave the world. Readers will discover that while the Nazis struck Jews, the Communists, under the orders of Joseph Stalin and his Politburo, committed holocausts against Polish people in eastern Poland. As such, the lives of Polish people turned dramatically worse and they had no choice but to endure the barbaric ways of the reds. Even after the end of the war, Communism still impacted the author's motherland through politics, economics and the repression of the people's freedom.

Furthermore, this book analyzes the consequences that Poland experienced when it was betrayed by U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Back then, the future of Poland was uncertain as their army, still fighting in Italy and Germany, was prepared to withdraw from the front lines in protest of the betrayal. This is a reflect on Polish honor that no such withdrawal took place, since it would leave large gaps in the front lines, and because of it, it was considered too dangerous to their Allied comrades-in-arms.

In addition, President Franklin D. Roosevelt betrayed many countries in Europe and Asia during WWII with monstrous consequences for generations to come, one of them being the Cold War, with all associated effects.
