LONG BEACH, Calif., Oct. 22, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Epson America Inc. today announced a partnership with the National Cristina Foundation that will help pair functional technology with economically disadvantaged persons, students at risk and people with disabilities in the U.S. and Canada.

"Epson customers who are ready to upgrade their technology, but still have a functional Epson product can make contact with the National Cristina Foundation directly from Epson.com's recycling page," said Ron Mateas, manager, Environmental Programs, Epson America Inc. "Epson printers, scanners, projectors and other technology can be donated to non-profit organizations and schools in need. The donation benefits the recipient, the environment and is also tax deductible, so it's a winning proposition all around."

All recipient groups are prescreened by the National Cristina Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of training through donated technology. The Foundation focuses on supporting children, at-risk students, adults with disabilities and the economically disadvantaged. Combined with special training provided by the National Cristina Foundation, the program enables people to lead more independent, productive lives.

"We're pleased that Epson has joined our roster of environmentally responsible and charitable partner companies," said Dr. Bud Rizer, executive director, The National Cristina Foundation. "Epson embodies the spirit and practical goodwill we seek in our strategic partnerships."
