A Family Tree Planted in America -- New Book Traces One Family's Story Through the Generations

DELAND, Fla., Oct. 22, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In an indulgent manner, it is said that genealogy is an addiction with no cure. After all, what can be more fascinating than learning about the footsteps of those who walked generations before you, knowing that these people are kin and their blood runs in your veins? Have an engrossing read as father and son team T.W. Blair, Sr. and T.W. Blair, Jr. share their family history in Sacred to the Memory of the Blairs.

In the late 18th century, a man would set sail from Europe - and onto a new life in America. Little did he know that two centuries later, a descendant would write their family's history. In Sacred To The Memory Of The Blairs, the authors have attempted to make tracing his bloodline more interesting by providing biographies of many of their ancestors. They hope to give future generations of Blairs an insight into their heritage.

Through these pages, the readers will be able to follow William Blair and his descendants. William migrated from Ireland to America in the late 1700s. He likely was looking for freedom, the same as many American immigrants. It is doubtful that he envisioned he would have over 1,000 descendants and that their history would be the history of America. From the birth of our nation until now, the Blair family history and American history are intertwined.

About the Author

Early life lessons taught Thomas William Blair Sr. (TW) to be principled. His father was killed in WWII when TW was only seven years old. Growing up in the small community of Tennille, AL, he learned to be self-sufficient and take pride in everything he did. TW began his family history research in the late 1960s, before personal computers and the internet. Then genealogy was definitely a "hands-on" art.

T.W. Blair Jr. (Bill) became interested in history and genealogy in the 1980s. Bill's passion for history is deep. He has been active in many historical and genealogical organizations, has participated in Living History programs, and has lectured on various historical events. Bill's driving force is his desire for future generations of Blairs to appreciate their ancestors and their achievements.
